Ukraine sees goods exports grow by 7.4% in Q1

The European Union accounts for 42.7% of Ukraine's exports of goods.

Exports of Ukrainian goods in January-March of 2019 (Q1) grew by 7.4% year-over-year (y-o-y), to US$12.3 billion.

The European Union remains the major importer of Ukrainian products, its share is 42.7% in the country's overall volume of exports.

"Products of the agricultural and metallurgy industries are in the greatest demand. Moreover, grain exports in Q1 grew by 52%," reads a statement posted on the Government's portal, referring to the State Statistics Service's data.

Exports of services over the period under review rose by 12.3% to $2.87 billion. In this segment, the EU market is also in the lead with a 33.6% share.

"Services in the area of transportation, telecommunications, business, as well as science and processing industry were most demanded," the report said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods and services in 2018 totaled $11.492 billion, which was 32.9% up from the deficit at $8.644 billion posted in 2017.
