Ukraine imports over 1.5 bcm of gas from Europe in Q1

In late November 2015, the country refused to purchase natural gas from Russia's Gazprom.

Ukraine in January-March 2019 (Q1) imported from European countries a total of 1.56 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas worth US$399.3 million.

Ukraine received 524 million cubic meters (mcm) of gas worth $131.8 million from traders registered in Switzerland, 332.8 mcm worth $87.1 million from Germany, 235.6 mcm worth $51.6 million from Poland, 189.4 mcm worth $57 million from Austria, 71.8 mcm worth $17.95 million from France, 63 mcm worth $18.3 million from the United Kingdom, 53.5 mcm worth $11.7 million from Hungary, 44 mcm worth $13.3 million from Luxembourg, and 39.5 mcm worth $9.8 million from the Czech Republic, according to the State Statistics Service.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine in 2018 imported 10.39 bcm of natural gas totaling US$3.12 billion.

Ukraine in late November 2015 stopped purchasing natural gas from Russia's Gazprom. In general, the country doubled gas imports from Europe in 2015 from 2014, to 10.3 bcm, reducing by 56.5% the purchase of hydrocarbons from Russia.

In 2016, Ukraine imported 11.1 bcm of gas from Europe alone, while gas imports in 2017 totaled 13.9 bcm. Natural gas shipments from abroad in 2017 were estimated at $3.228 billion.
