Ukraine's government lends US$1.22 mln to Ukroboronprom for audit

Ukroboronprom should select an audit firm by May 25.

Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has allocated UAH 32 million, or US$1.22 million, for state-owned Concern Ukroboronprom on condition of repayment to conduct a financial audit.

This was announced by Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman at a government meeting on Wednesday, May 22.

"Today, we're allocating UAH 32 million for Ukroboronprom on condition of repayment, so that Ukroboronprom could launch a profound financial audit of its activities," the prime minister said.

According to him, the government also drafted a bill that would make the use of state funds for the defense order more transparent.

"We are introducing a bill on the transparent work of Ukroboronprom, all that concerns military equipment and procurement in that area. This is what we promised at the previous government meeting," he added.

As UNIAN reported, Groysman said on May 15 that the government had given Ukroboronprom 10 days to select an audit firm.

Ukroboronprom was established in 2010 to ensure the effective functioning and management of economic entities that are engaged in the development, manufacture, sale, repair, modernization and disposal of weapons, military and special equipment and ammunition, and take part in military-technical cooperation. Ukroboronprom incorporates over a hundred defense companies of Ukraine.
