Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli says that further cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is one of the conditions for the second EUR 500 million disbursement of the EU's Macro-Financial Assistance (MFA) to Ukraine.

"The IMF is one condition. Ukraine must be on track with the IMF program to get the EU's Macro-Financial Assistance," he told an UNIAN correspondent in a comment.

According to him, there are other conditions, but since the dialogue on their implementation with the Ukrainian authorities continues, he cannot give a specific date for the disbursement.

"I cannot tell you – there are ongoing discussions between the European Commission and [Finance] Minister [Oksana] Markarova to assess the extent to which the conditions have been met, there is ongoing dialogue, but I cannot give you any date," he said.

As UNIAN reported, the European Council in June 2018 approved the fourth MFA program for Ukraine in the amount of EUR 1 billion.

In December, the European Commission provided Ukraine with the first MFA disbursement worth EUR 500 million in the form of a loan at an interest rate of 1.25% per annum due in April 2033.

On March 15, Ukraine's Finance Ministry reported that an EU evaluation mission was working in Ukraine to decide on the second MFA disbursement in the amount of EUR 500 million. The ministry said it expected the funds might be disbursed no earlier than April 2019.
