Ukraine sees 7.9% rise in retail trade in Jan-April

Retail turnover increased most in Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Lviv regions.

Retail trade in Ukraine grew by 7.9% in comparable prices in January-April 2019 year-over-year (y-o-y), to UAH 319.887 billion (US$12.3 billion).

Retail turnover increased most in Vinnytsia region (by 13.2%, to UAH 5.167 billion/$197.9 million), Kyiv region (by 12.1% to UAH 17.798 billion/$681.7 million), Ivano-Frankivsk region (by 12% to $4.551/$174.3 million), Dnipropetrovsk region (by 10.8% to UAH 23.408 billion/$896.5 million), and Lviv region (by 10.8% to UAH 14.892/$570.4 million), according to the Ukrainian State Statistics Service's website.

Retail trade in April 2019 alone shrank by 2.2% against March 2019.

Trade through retail outlets in January-April 2019 was estimated at UAH 231.596 billion, or $8.9 billion, which was 8.6% up y-o-y.

As UNIAN reported earlier, retail trade in Ukraine increased by 6.1% in 2018 from 2017.
