Ukraine's large, medium-sized businesses cut profit by over 7% in Q1

The share of unprofitable Ukrainian enterprises rose to 27.2%.

Large and medium-sized Ukrainian enterprises in January-March 2019 (Q1) received UAH 111.089 million, or US$4.2 million, in profit before tax, which was 7.1% down year-over-year (y-o-y).

Financial performance of Ukraine's profitable enterprises shrank by 6.8%, to UAH 152.462 billion ($5.8 billion), while that of loss-making companies grew by 1.7% over the period under review, to minus UAH 41.373 billion ($1.6 billion), according to the Ukrainian State Statistics Service website.

Moreover, the share of unprofitable Ukrainian enterprises rose from 26.3% to 27.2%.

The report does not include information from temporarily occupied areas in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, and certain areas in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, it said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's large and medium-sized enterprises in 2018 received UAH 352.955 billion, or $13.4 billion, in profit before tax, which was 24% higher than the figure reported in 2017.
