Former Finance Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Danyliuk, who is likely to be appointed Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, says Ukraine's cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will continue.

"The economy has already been growing for so many quarters in a row. But we realize the situation is still unstable. First, any major changes in foreign markets will immediately affect [the country's economy]. Second, even if the positive cycle continues, a 3% growth is still not growth. So, major changes are important, as they will give impetus to make us more competitive. This is the government's responsibility to the citizens, it's political commitment," he told the Ukrainian online news outlet Obozrevatel on May 27.
Danyliuk said the country needs cooperation with the relevant institutions, because many of changes initiated had not been implemented.
He believes Ukraine should be supported financially, as it needs such an assistance.
"For example, this refers to billions of dollars, tens of billions, only for [the country's] infrastructure... That's why we are talking about infrastructure modernization. Therefore, we need financial assistance. But we must first understand what we want and receive financial support for areas where we cannot cope [with problems]. It's important. Therefore, cooperation with the IMF will continue. The same situation is with the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. These are our partners, and they will always support us if we are determined to change," he said.
Danyliuk also stressed the IMF expects that Ukraine return criminal responsibility for illegal enrichment.
"If the Verkhovna Rada [Ukraine's parliament] fails to take actions, everyone will suffer from this. Therefore, it's not an easy process. And we need to find a common solution with the parliament and with the government so that in this kind of political mayhem we still adhere to our obligations, since this is a matter of trust," he said.
