Foreign trade deficit in goods down by 7 times in January

Ukraine’s deficit in foreign trade in goods in January 2015 amounted to $25.1 million, which is seven times lower compared to January 2014, when it was $183.1 million, according to data published on the Web site of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

In January, export of goods from Ukraine decreased by 31.2%, imports by 33.4%

According to the State Statistics Service, the data do not include figures from the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as part of the zone of the antiterrorist operation implementation.

In January, exports of goods from Ukraine decreased by 31.2%, amounting to $2.984 billion, while imports dropped by 33.4% to $3.009 billion on a year-over-year basis. The foreign trade coverage ratio totaled 0.99 (against 0.96 in January 2014).

According to the report, the number of partners with which foreign trade transactions were carried out has decreased to 170, down by 47 countries or regions.

In January, exports of goods to the EU fell by 31% in annual terms - to $1.072 billion, or by 35.9% of total export volumes.

Imports of goods from EU countries decreased during the same period by 21.2% - to $1.153 billion, or 38.3% of total import volumes.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the foreign trade deficit in goods in 2014 decreased by 29 times - to $468.3 million.

In 2014, compared to the previous year, exports of goods from Ukraine decreased by 13.5%, to $53.913 billion, while imports dropped by 28.3%, to $54.381 billion.
