Ukraine may boost exports of new grain

Ukraine's Agriculture Ministry said that farmers exported 39.9 million tonnes of grain in MY 2017-2018.

Exports of grain from Ukraine in the 2019-2020 marketing year (MY, July 2019 through June 2020) may increase by 7.3% in comparison with the previous marketing year, to 50.9 million tonnes, the Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) said in its report.

UGA predicts grain yields in 2019-2020 are expected at 69.5 million tonnes, while exports may total 50.9 million tonnes, up from 47.4 million tonnes in the current marketing year.

According to the association, the yield of maize alone can be 32.2 million tonnes, maize exports may total 26 million tonnes; while the yield of wheat is expected at 26.7 million tonnes and wheat exports at 19 million tonnes.

The yield of barley is projected at 8.4 million tonnes and barley exports at 4.9 million tonnes.

In addition, according to UGA, the total harvest of cereals and oil crops in MY 2019-2020 is expected at 94.74 million tonnes, while exports may total 56.9 million tonnes.
