"Experts predict [cherry] exports may exceed 5,000 tonnes," the Ukrainian TSN news service reported on May 28.
In 2018, 80% of all Ukrainian cherries were sold to Russia through Belarus and Moldova. In 2019, the first cherry exports are expected to the countries of the Middle East.
"The number of domestic enterprises that have received special certificates for [cherry] supplies to Europe has also increased since Europe is facing a poor harvest [of cherries] this year due to weather conditions," reads the report.
