Wage arrears in Ukraine grow to US$99 mln in April

Ukrainian enterprises' wage debts before workers in April 2019 grew by 6.2% from March 2019, to UAH 2.615 billion (US$99 million) as of May 1, 2019.

Delayed wages at operating enterprises were estimated at UAH 1.416 billion (US$53.6 million) as of May 1, 2019, which was 10.6% up from the figure reported as of April 1, 2019, the State Statistics Service reported.

The report does not include information from temporarily occupied areas in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, and certain areas in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, it said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the minimum wage in Ukraine grew on January 1, 2019, from UAH 3,723 ($141) to UAH 4,173 ($158).

The average nominal salary of a full-time employee grew by 21.1% in Ukraine in April 2019 year-over-year (y-o-y), to UAH 10,269, or $389.

The National Bank of Ukraine expects a slowdown in the growth of wages and salaries in Ukraine, forecasting an increase in nominal wages by 16% and by 10% (or by 7% and 5% in real hryvnias) in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
