Four out of six power units are in operation at Zaporizhia NPP as of June 3.
Zaporizhia nuclear power plant (NPP), which is part of state-run enterprise Energoatom, has disconnected its unit No. 5 from the power grids for scheduled repairs.
"At 00:01 on June 3, 2019, unit No. 5 of Zaporizhia NPP was disconnected from the grid for average scheduled repairs, which would last for 119 days until September 27, 2019," Energoatom's press service said in a statement.

What is more, a scheduled overhaul at the NPP's unit No. 2 has been under way for 83 days, it said.
As of June 3, four out of six power units were in operation at Zaporizhia NPP. In total, nine out of Ukraine's 15 power units at all its nuclear power plants were operating.
"The radiation background in the Zaporizhia NPP zone corresponds to natural levels, that is 8-12 μR per hour as of June 1. The release of radioactive substances into the environment does not exceed the established permissible levels," the report said.

Its first power unit was commissioned in 1984, the second one in 1985, third in 1986, fourth in 1987, fifth in 1989, and sixth in 1995. Since 1984, the share of the NPP in the country's energy sector has increased from 2% to 22%.
