Hryvnia weakens by 1.4% to dollar in May – NBU

The national currency strengthened against the U.S. dollar by 3% in January-May 2019.

Ukraine's national currency, the hryvnia, in May 2019 weakened by 1.4% against the U.S. dollar, to UAH 26.85 at the official rate of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

The Ukrainian hryvnia against the euro became weaker by 1.5%, to UAH 29.95 over the period under review, according to the NBU's website.

In January-May 2019, the national currency strengthened by 3% against the dollar and by 5.6% against the euro.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's national currency strengthened by 2.6% against the U.S. dollar and by 3.5% against the euro in April 2018.

The national budget of Ukraine for 2019 is based on the forecast rate set at UAH 29.4 to the dollar by the end of 2019.

According to the expert consensus forecast compiled by UNIAN, the hryvnia exchange rate against the U.S. dollar at the end of 2019 is expected at UAH 30.

The hryvnia's historic low against the U.S. dollar was registered at UAH 30.01 in February 2015.
