The launch of the new electricity market is part of Ukraine's international obligations to implement the European Union's Third Energy Package.
Deputy CEO of NPC Ukrenergo for market development and IT Andriy Nemyrovsky says all grid companies in Ukraine will be fully prepared for the launch of the new electricity market from July 1.
"Five grid companies are fully ready to work in the market, six are completing preparations, the rest will be ready by the end of the month," he said during a USAID round table on the new electricity market in Ukraine.

During the event, all participants – both representatives of the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) and energy companies, and experts – spoke in favor of the importance of launching the electricity market on July 1, 2019.
Debates covered only the technical readiness of the grids.
Ukrenergoconsulting Deputy Director General for Prospective Development and Energy Saving Technologies Andriy Borysenko projects that the Cabinet of Ministers and the NEURC should resolve all the remaining regulatory issues by the end of the month.
The new electricity market that will function in accordance with EU standards should be launched on July 1, 2019, under the Law of Ukraine on the Electricity Market.
At a government meeting on June 5, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman assured that the new market would start working on time. The launch of the new electricity market is part of Ukraine's international obligations to implement the European Union's Third Energy Package.
