Poland, the Netherlands, and Germany remain major suppliers of chocolate to Ukraine.
Experts at Kyiv-based Pro-Consulting LLC say Ukraine in January-April 2019 boosted chocolate imports by 14% year-over-year (y-o-y).

"The main suppliers of chocolate [to Ukraine] remain Poland (US$13.9 million), the Netherlands (US$6.7 million), and Germany (US$5.7 million)," the company said in a statement on June 10.
As reported, chocolate imports started to grow in 2017, due to the launch of a free trade area between Ukraine and the European Union. In 2018, the imports increased by 40%, whereas they rose by 14% in January-April 2019 y-o-y.
Rules for the production of chocolate products were tightened in Ukraine in early 2018. The chocolate has been produced in line with European standards since then, which makes the competitive Ukrainian products even more adapted to the consumer market abroad.
According to experts, Ukraine may expect an increase in trade with the European Union states. The chocolate output will also grow, taking into account European and international standards, which will be conducive to the growth of shipments of the said produce abroad.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian producers in 2018 boosted chocolate exports to the European Union by 22.6% from 2017, to EUR 41.2 million.
