The National Bank of Ukraine on Monday continued its bid to strengthen the hryvnia’s official exchange rate to the fundamental level agreed with the IMF, edging the currency rate up over four kopiykas to almost UAH 23.15 to the dollar.
As of 1400 the central bank set the following official exchange rates of the hryvnia against leading foreign currencies:
$100 – UAH 2,314.9873 (as of 1400 on March 20 it was UAH 2,319.0613);
EUR 100 – UAH 2,494.6303 (as of 1400 on March 20 it was UAH 2,476.0618);
10 Russian rubles – UAH 3.8561 (as of 1400 on March 20 it was UAH 3.8760).
As UNIAN reported earlier, NBU Governor Valeria Gontareva said that the fundamental level of the hryvnia exchange rate under the program with the International Monetary Fund was a rate of UAH 20-22 to the dollar.
"This is a calculated level. It is in our program with the International Monetary Fund. You know that our budget rate is UAH 21.70, so we see the hryvnia exchange rate at UAH 20-22 to the dollar," she said.
