Ukraine's gross external debt shrinks by US$281 bln in Q1

The country's general government debt rose by 2.5%, to $41.144 billion.

Ukraine's gross external debt shrank by US$281 million, or 0.2%, in the first quarter of 2019 (Q1), to $114,429 billion.

The central bank's debt shrank by 2.4% in Q1, to $7.745 billion, the debt of other depository corporations – by 11%, to $5.162 billion, and the debt of other sectors – by 1.1%, to $50.878 billion, according to the National Bank of Ukraine's (NBU) website.

At the same time, the general government debt rose by 2.5%, to $41.144 billion, while direct investments (inter-firm debt) grew by 0.9%, to $9.500 billion.
