Ukraine's statistics service says growth of real GDP better than projected

The State Statistics Service of Ukraine says the growth of Ukraine's real GDP is better than projected.

In particular, the growth of real GDP in Ukraine in the first quarter of 2019 year-over-year was 2.5%, though it slowed down from 3.5% a quarter earlier, but it was higher than the previously published estimate of a 2.2% growth, the service said on its website.

Compared with the previous quarter, real GDP growth is 0.3%, taking into account the seasonal factor, which is also better than a previous estimate of 0.2%.

Nominal GDP in the first quarter amounted to UAH 807.8 billion, or US$30.7 billion, and GDP per capita was UAH 19,179, or US$728.

UNIAN memo. According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, real GDP growth in Ukraine in 2018 accelerated to 3.3% from 2.5% in 2017 and became the highest indicator in the past seven years.

Ukraine's national budget for 2019 is based on the government's macroeconomic forecast for a 3% increase in real GDP. The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank predict a 2.7% growth in Ukraine's economy this year.
