Ukraine's gas stocks up 48.5% since start of injection, to 13 bcm – operator

Natural gas reserves at the Ukrainian underground storage facilities (USFs) after the completion of the heating season (April 5, 2019) increased by 48.5% to 13.002 billion cubic meters.

That's according to the data provided by Ukrtransgaz, the state-owned operator of the gas transmission system of Ukraine.

As of June 22, gas reserves at USFs are 21% larger year-on-year (10.7 billion cubic meters). At the same time, Ukrainian gas storages are 42% full.

According to the company, on June 22, some 69.92 million cubic meters was pumped into USFs.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on April 5, Ukraine began pumping natural gas into its underground gas storage facilities.

Ahead of the 2018-2019 heating season, Ukraine had accumulated in the USFs some 17.2 billion cubic meters of gas, which is a record figure over the past six years.

UNIAN memo. Ukrtransgaz operates 12 underground gas storage facilities with a total active capacity of about 31 billion cubic meters. Underground gas storage facilities are an integral part of the gas supply system of Ukraine and the transit of gas through its territory. The company also operates gas pipelines transiting gas from the Russian Federation to the EU countries, and also importing it into Ukraine from the EU countries.

100% of the shares of Ukrtransgaz are owned by NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine.
