Ukraine's national debt down 2% in dollar terms, to $78 bln in May

In hryvnia equivalent, national debt decreased by 1%.

The volume of public and publicly guaranteed debt of Ukraine in May 2019 decreased in dollar terms by US$1.44 billion, or 1.8%, to $78.4 billion, the Ministry of Finance reports.

In the hryvnia equivalent, public debt for the said period was down UAH 18.36 billion, or 0.9%, to UAH 2.106 trillion.

According to the data released, from year-start, in January-May, the volume of public debt increased by 0.1% in dollar terms, at the same time sliding by 2.9% in hryvnia equivalent.

UNIAN memo. The volume of public and publicly guaranteed debt of Ukraine in 2018 increased in dollar terms by $2.02 billion, or 2.6%, to $78.32 billion.

In the hryvnia equivalent, the volume of public debt for this period increased by UAH 26.94 billion, or 1.3%, to UAH 2.169 trillion.

In relation to GDP, the public and publicly-guaranteed debt of Ukraine in 2018 decreased to about 62.7% from 71.8% in 2017.
