"We've lodged an appeal and will dispute [the decision]. I'm sure that all decisions made in 2016 were legal. All actions by the National Bank, the Finance Ministry and the Deposit Guarantee Fund were carried out in the manner prescribed by law. We are sure of it and we will constantly protect the state interests," he told journalists on June 25.

Smolii also mentioned the April decision of the court to declare the NBU's decision to withdraw PrivatBank from the market with the participation of the state as illegal.

Today, PrivatBank is stable and profitable, he said. According to the results of 2018, the financial institution for the first time transferred dividends to the national budget, he added.

UNIAN memo. Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers in December 2016 decided to nationalize PrivatBank, guided by the recommendations of the National Security and Defense Council.

In April 2019, courts in Ukraine took a number of decisions, including that to cancel the bank's nationalization. Subsequently, PrivatBank, the Cabinet of Ministers and the National Bank appealed against the decisions.
