The average nominal wage of a full-time employee in Ukraine in May 2019 increased year-on-year by 17.4%, to UAH 10,239 (US$391.2), the State Statistics Service reports.

It is also noted that the average nominal wage in May decreased by 0.3% against April

The real wage index in May 2019 compared with April 2019 was 99.0%, and 107.0% on year.

The State Statistics Service notes that the average nominal wage of a full-time employee at enterprises, institutions, and organizations in May 2019 amounted to UAH 10,239, which is 2.5 times higher than the minimum wage (UAH 4,173, or $159.4).

As UNIAN reported earlier, from January 1, 2019 the minimum wage in Ukraine increased from UAH 3,723 ($142.3) to UAH 4,173.

The National Bank expects a slowdown in wage growth, forecasting an increase in nominal wages by 16% in 2019 and by 10% in 2020, respectively, or by 7% and 5% in real terms.
