Operations launched at new gas, oil fields in Ukraine

Over the past 3 years, Ukrgazvydobuvanya has opened eight new fields, of which six in 2018.

Ukraine’s largest state-owned gas producer Ukrgazvydobuvannya has started works at new oil and gas fields in Kharkiv and Poltava regions, the company press service reported.

Following a 3D-seismic survey, a prospecting well was first drilled at the site in Kharkiv region, where oil started flowing 3,700 m deep. Industrial research works and preparations for the extraction launch are underway. According to preliminary estimates, oil deposits at the new field stand at about 130,000 tonnes.

In Poltava region, following industrial seismic surveys and drilling of the first 6,300 m prospecting well, the company saw industrial gas inflow. As a result, a new gas condensate field was discovered, with the forecast deposit of over 2.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
