Leading US defense companies are planning to invest in the development of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex, according to the press service of Ukrainian state defense industry holding company Ukroboronprom.
According to an Ukroboronprom statement, the relevant agreements were reached during a visit of the leadership of the holding to the United States.
CEO of state concern Ukroboronprom Roman Romanov said U.S. expertise and technology would help speed up the process of reforming the Ukrainian military-industrial complex and allow the country to implement an import-substituting program with regard to Russian components for Ukrainian weapons.
"Direct investment and cooperation with the world’s leading weapon producer will ensure Ukraine’s transition to international standards and reorientation to new markets," he said.
As noted in the statement, in the course of negotiations, representatives of the US military-industrial complex made commitments to provide full support to Ukraine.
As UNIAN reported earlier, on March 26, at a forum on military cooperation between the Czech Republic and Ukraine, the Deputy Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic Kostoval Daniel said there was a possibility of establishing joint defense enterprises in Ukraine after reaching agreements with the Ukrainian military leadership.
