Ukrainian agrarians threshed 9.2 million tonnes of early grains from 2.8 million hectares as of July 5, 2019.

In particular, the farmers threshed 5.6 million tonnes of winter wheat from an area of 1.6 million ha (25% of the target) with an average yield of 3.41 tonnes per ha; 3.3 million tonnes of barley from 980,000 ha (39%) with a yield of 3.33 tonnes per ha; and 360,000 tonnes of peas from 169,000 ha (59%) with a yield of 2.13 tonnes per ha, the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry's press service said.

Ukrainian farmers also started harvesting rye, having threshed 600 tonnes of this product from an area of 300 ha (0.3% of the target) with a yield of 1.96 tonnes per ha, as well as oats – 1,200 tonnes from 1,000 ha (0.4%) with a yield of 1.79 tonnes per ha.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian farmers on May 2 completed a campaign to sow early spring crops on 2.1 million ha.

In 2018, Ukraine harvested a record high yield of grains, having threshed 70.1 million tonnes.
