"The government envisages that the next year's budget should have a Road Fund, which will include 100% of fuel excise revenue, and the parliament should support it. Moreover, there should be additional funding in the amount of UAH 10 billion for local roads. Their length is only about 25,000 kilometers across the country. Some 10,000 kilometers of which can be repaired with an annual funding of UAH 10 billion within five years," he told journalists following a government meeting on June 5.

The minister also invited local councils to co-finance the overhaul of the local roads to settle the issue as soon as possible.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the State Road Agency of Ukraine, Ukravtodor, had elaborated a strategy for the development of local roads for 2020-2024, which involves repairs with the use of rolled concrete, industrial waste, and cold recycling technologies.
