State-owned companies such as Ukrnafta and Ukrtransnafta will have "efficient foreign management" in future, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said in an interview with the TV channel ICTV, as reported by the Ukrainian newspaper Ukrainska Pravda.
"There is a new approach to public companies Ukrnafta, Ukrtransnafta, Ukrtatnafta and the rest: The state is resuming its control, we will respect the rights of other shareholders, receive and distribute dividends and appoint new, efficient foreign management," Yatseniuk said.
Yatseniuk also said that he had ordered the convening of a general meeting of shareholders of Ukrnafta and other companies, at which the issue of dividend distribution is to be resolved.
"Ukrnafta will have new leadership - it must be selected through an international audit, by choosing professional people with formidable international reputations," he said.
According to Yatseniuk, "We [the government] have decided that now all the leaders of state-owned companies are to be elected only on the basis on an open competition."
"There will be no nepotism," Yatseniuk said.
