Ukrainians pay almost US$14 mln in property tax in H1

More than 1.3 million tax assessment notices on immovable property were issued to over 1.2 million individuals.

Ukraine's State Fiscal Service (SFS) says tax on property, different from land plots, paid by individuals to local budgets in January-June 2019 (H1) grew by 53.8% year-over-year (y-o-y), from UAH 231.4 million (US$9 million) to UAH 355.9 million (US$13.8 million).

"More than 1.3 million tax assessment notices on immovable property different from plots of land were issued to over 1.2 million individuals, owners of such type of real estate," the SFS press service said in a statement on July 9.

Over the period under review, UAH 1.29 billion (US$50 million) in taxes was due to be paid, which was UAH 326.2 million (US$12.7 million) more than in 2018.

Individuals are to pay their taxes within 60 days from the date of delivery of a tax assessment notice, it said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the real estate tax was introduced in Ukraine in early 2015 with the entry into force of the new Tax Code. The tax is entitled to apartments with an area of over 60 square meters and houses of over 120 square meters.

Payers of tax on property, different from land plots, are individuals and legal entities, including non-residents, who own residential and/or non-residential real estate.

The total area of residential and non-residential real estate, including its parts (garages, household structures, workshops, office premises, etc.), is subject to taxation.
