USDA revises upwards forecast for maize yield in Ukraine in MY 2019-2020

The reviewed forecast is one million tonnes up on the previously projected yield.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has revised upwards its forecast for the yield of maize in Ukraine in the 2019-2020 marketing year (July 2019 through June 2020) by 1 million tonnes compared to the June forecast, to 34 million tonnes of maize.

Maize exports from Ukraine in MY 2019-2020 may total 28 million tonnes, the USDA said in its July report, which will be 1 million tonnes up on the previous estimate.

As UNIAN reported, Ukraine in MY 2017-2018 (July 2017 through June 2018) shipped 39.375 million tonnes of grain onto foreign markets, according to preliminary data.

The harvest of grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine in 2017 was 61.3 million tonnes, harvested from an area of 14.6 million hectares.
