Shadow economy in Ukraine in 2018 accounted for 30% of the official gross domestic product (GDP), which was 2 percentage points (p.p.) down from 2017.

"Comparing similar indicators of previous years, it should be noted this has been the lowest level [of shadow economy] since 2009. Such de-shadowing of the economy can be viewed as one of the criteria for assessing the effectiveness of the implemented reforms and their perception by society," according to the report "General Trends of the Shadow Economy in Ukraine," which is published quarterly by Ukraine's Economic Development and Trade Ministry.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the share of the country's shadow economy in January September 2018 accounted for 32% of its GDP, which was 1 p.p. down year-over-year.
