Agrarian ministry confirms grain exports for 2018 at record 49.9 million tonnes

During the reporting period, 50.4 million tonnes of grains, legumes, and flour was supplied to foreign markets.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food confirmed grain exports from Ukraine in the 2018-2019 marketing year (MY, June 2018 - July 2019) at 49.9 million tonnes, the ministry's press service reported, citing data from the State Fiscal Service.

According to the report, a record 50.4 million tonnes of grains, legumes, and flour was delivered to foreign markets in the 2018-2019 marketing year, which is 10.5 million tonnes more on year.

The press service noted that 49.9 million tonnes of cereals and legumes was exported in the past marketing year.

In particular, Ukraine exported 15.6 million tonnes of wheat and mixtures of wheat and rye; 3.7 million tonnes of barley; 87,800 tonnes of rye; 29.8 million tonnes of corn; and 815,000 tonnes of other grains and legumes.

In addition, in the 2018-2019 marketing year, Ukrainian manufacturers exported 299,800 tonnes of wheat flour or a mixture of wheat and rye, as well as 1,300 tonnes of flour of other cereals.

As UNIAN reported, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, in MY 2017-2018, agrarians exported 39.4 million tonnes of grains.

The previous record of grain exports in Ukraine was in MY 2016-2017 at the level of 43.8 million tonnes.

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Foods, grain harvest in Ukraine in 2018 brought a record 70.1 million tonnes.
