Naftogaz in July to reduce gas price for households by 11.7%

National Joint-Stock Company Naftogaz of Ukraine has calculated the new price of natural gas for the needs of the population and other consumers under special obligations, which will be valid in July.

In accordance with the government’s resolution of June 5, it will amount to UAH 4,905.67 per 1,000 cubic meters, which is 11.7% lower than in June, the press service of the company reported.

"Thus, the price of gas at which Naftogaz sells it in July to gas distribution companies and delivers it to consumers under social obligations is set at UAH 4,905.67 per 1,000 cubic meters (excluding VAT and transmission costs). Against June, the cost of gas will decrease by UAH 648, or by 11.7%," it was reported.

At the same time, the company noted that the final price of gas in the regions depends on the gas distribution tariff set by the National Energy and Utilities Regulation Commission for the relevant companies.

"Gas suppliers are obliged to inform their consumers of the final price," the company added.

Naftogaz noted that this was the second consecutive reduction of gas price. In June, it was reduced by UAH 436, or 7.3%, against May.

On June 5, during a government meeting, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman named Naftogaz of Ukraine an "insatiable monopolist", accusing it of setting gas prices for the households above the market level.

In this regard, the government made a decision obliging Naftogaz to reduce gas prices for the households to below UAH 8,000 per 1,000 cubic meters.
