Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has extended a ban on imports of goods originating from the Russian Federation into the customs territory of Ukraine until December 31, 2020.
Respective government resolution No. 605 dated July 5 was posted on the Ukrainian government's portal.
The document introduces amendments to resolution No. 1147 dated December 30, 2015, on a ban on imports of goods originating from the Russian Federation into the customs territory of Ukraine (with amendments under Cabinet resolution No. 535 dated May 15, 2019).

Yet, the introduction of the ban on imports of cars and other motor vehicles was postponed until the end of this year.
The government also allowed the importation of goods from the list for the amount of prepayments made for them if it was made before the ban came into force.
The Cabinet also authorized Ukraine's State Fiscal Service to verify the country of origin of goods if such verification is not conducted at border checkpoints.

As UNIAN reported, Ukraine's government on May 15, 2019, issued resolution No. 535 to amend the list of goods originating from the Russian Federation prohibited from being imported into the customs territory of Ukraine under which imports of Russian-made vehicles were banned from July 1 and trams originating from the Russian Federation from March 1, 2020.
As indicated in the document, subject to the trade embargo from July 1, 2019 are raw materials for production of cement (clinker) and all ready-made types of cement, as well as mineral (nitrogen, potash and phosphate) fertilizers, animal feed and products of veterinary medicine, matches, plywood products, wallpaper, light industry products, in particular, certain types of knitwear and footwear, carbon steel wires, metal wires, pipes, tubes, metal mesh, fasteners, steel utensils, equipment for bakery industry and vehicles (cars, motorcycles, tractors, etc.).
In addition, it is prohibited to import used rail and tram cars from March 1, 2020.
The expansion of the list of Russian goods falling under Ukraine's embargo is a response to the restrictions imposed by the Russian authorities in April 2019. By its No. 460-25 decree, the government of Russia on April 18, 2019, stepped up restrictions on imports of goods whose country of origin or country of dispatch is Ukraine and for the first time banned shipments of certain Russian goods to Ukraine.
