Exports of commodities to Russia shrank by 11.7%, to $1.34 billion, while imports of goods from the Russian Federation decreased by 1.3%, to $3.14 billion.
Deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods in January-May 2019 was estimated at US$2.6 billion, which was 27.4% up against the deficit recorded year-over-year (y-o-y).
Exports of goods from Ukraine over the period under review rose by 7.4%, to $20.9 billion, while imports of goods to Ukraine grew by 9.3%, to $23.53 billion, according to the State Statistics Service's website.
The export to import coverage ratio stood at 0.89 in January-May 2019 (0.90 in January-May 2018).
Over the period under review, Ukraine traded with partners from 211 countries.
Exports of goods to the EU countries grew by 7%, to $8.76 billion, while imports of goods from the EU rose by 10.8%, to $9.88 billion.

UNIAN memo. The NBU estimated the deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods and services in 2018 at $11.492 billion, which was 32.9% up from the deficit reported in 2017.
The State Statistics Service in turn estimated the deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods and services in 2018 at $5.826 billion, which was 2.3 times up against the deficit recorded in 2017 at $2.501 billion.
