The entire subway is expected to be covered with the 4G network by the end of 2020.
Mobile operators Kyivstar, Vodafone and lifecell have completed a tender to find a contractor for the construction of a 4G network in Kyiv's Metro underground railway.
The tender was won by the Chinese technology giant Huawei, the liga.tech portal reported, quoting Corporate Communications Director at Vodafone Viktoria Ruban.

"The deployment is about to be launched. The first stations are AkademMistechko, Heroyiv Dnipra and Syrets. By the end of 2020, the entire subway will be covered," said Ruban.
She did not specify how much the project would cost for the operators.
In December 2017, before the start of the tender, Huawei estimated a similar project at US$10 million. The three operators will split the deployment costs equally.
