Sweden accounts for about 75% of nuclear fuel supplies to Ukraine.
Ukraine in January-May 2019 imported US$68.665 million worth of fuel assemblies used as fuel for nuclear power plants, according to the country's State Statistics Service.
Over the period under review, Russia sold 14.9 tonnes of nuclear fuel worth US$17.4 million, thus the share of Russian fuel was 25.4% of total shipments, it said.

Sweden supplied 70.4 tonnes of nuclear fuel worth US$51.2 million, accounting for 74.6%.
As UNIAN reported, Ukraine's state-owned company Energoatom in April 2014 signed an agreement with the company Westinghouse, which produces fuel at its plant in Sweden, to diversify the sources of supply of nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants in Ukraine and reduce dependence on one supplier, the Russian company TVEL.
In January 2018, Energoatom and Westinghouse extended the supply contract until 2025.
Today, the Swedish fuel is used at Zaporizhia and Yuzhnoukrainsk nuclear power plants. According to the State Statistics Service, 335.2 tonnes of nuclear fuel was purchased in Russia for US$374.2 million (71.6% of total supplies) and 211.4 tonnes worth US$148.5 million in Sweden in 2018. The share of shipments from Sweden was 28.4%.
UNIAN memo. Energoatom is Ukraine's largest electricity producer, accounting for about 50% of the country's overall power output. Energoatom is responsible for the safe operation of the country's nuclear power plants.
Ukraine ranks seventh globally in terms of the installed capacity of its nuclear power generating units. Energoatom operates four nuclear power plants across Ukraine with a total of 15 power generating units, all with VVER-type reactors. Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, operating six power units with a total capacity of 6 GW, is Europe's largest.
