Germany’s government plans to promote investments by German companies in the Ukrainian economy, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said during a press conference with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk in Berlin on Wednesday.
"As for the German companies, I can’t speak for every company, and I can’t make a decision: whether it will invest or not. Of course, we want to see a lot of German companies in Ukraine, and I see no reason for them not to stay in Ukraine," Merkel said.
"We talked about this a lot. We will encourage German companies to come to Ukraine," she said.
In particular, Merkel stressed the importance of the investment conference to be held in late April of this year.
"It is important that the market conditions are improved in Ukraine that will give businesses the opportunity to earn on both sides and with some profit," she said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said that this autumn Ukraine was going to hold a large investment conference within the presentation of its investment opportunities, as well as a business forum in the United States.
