Ukraine's state debt exceeds US$80 bln in H1

The debt in the hryvnia equivalent expanded by 3% over the period under review.

Ukraine's state and state-guaranteed debt in January-June 2019 increased by US$2.03 billion, or 2.6%, to US$80.35 billion.

However, the country's state debt in the hryvnia equivalent shrank by UAH 66.04 billion, or 3%, for this period, to UAH 2.102 trillion, Ukraine's Finance Ministry said.

In June alone, state debt grew by 2.5% in the dollar equivalent, but it decreased by 0.2% in the hryvnia equivalent.

UNIAN memo. Ukraine's state and state-guaranteed debt in 2018 decreased by US$2.02 billion, or 2.6%, to US$78.32 billion. The debt in the hryvnia equivalent increased by UAH 26.94 billion last year, or 1.3%, to UAH 2.169 trillion.

Ukraine's debt-to-GDP ratio in 2018 slid to about 62.7%, from 71.8% in 2017.
