Zelensky's advisor: Developing digital economy should be top priority for Ukraine

Ukraine must implement a digital transformation of existing sectors of the economy and create favorable conditions for the new ones to emerge.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's freelance advisor Mykhailo Fedorov has met with representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine to present a Digital Action Plan.

"The development of the digital economy should be priority No. 1 for Ukraine. We must implement digital transformation of the existing sectors of the economy and create favorable conditions for the new ones to emerge. Otherwise, we risk forever lagging behind world's leading economies. Together with the core businesses and the public, we have defined clear objectives and goals until 2024," Fedorov said, according to the president's press service.

"We are very interested in attracting the capabilities of members of the American Chamber of Commerce to the development of joint projects in the field of broadband internet, electronic identification, etc.," he said.

During the meeting, representatives of American businesses focused on problematic issues of working in Ukraine, in particular searches at IT companies, taxation of the IT industry and access to infrastructure to accommodate telecommunications equipment providers, as well as key interests in the development of mobile and fixed broadband internet, electronic court and the adoption of priority bills required for the IT industry.
