Wage arrears in Ukraine in June up 5.1%, to UAH 2.9 bln

The amount of what economically active enterprises owe their employees increased by 10%.

Wage arrears accumulated at Ukraine's enterprises in June 2019 increased 5.1% against May, amounting to UAH 2.857 billion (US$113.4 million), the State Statistics Service reports.

In particular, the debt to employees of economically active enterprises as of July 1, 2019, stood at UAH 1.694 billion ($67.24 million), which is 10% more than the figure recorded a month earlier.

The agency notes that the data are provided excluding the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as parts of the temporarily occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

As UNIAN reported, from January 1, 2019, minimum wage in Ukraine increased to UAH 4,173 ($165.63 at the current rate) from UAH 3,723 ($147.77).

The average nominal wage of a full-time employee in June 2019 increased by 18% year-on-year to UAH 10,783 ($428).

The National Bank expects a slowdown in wage growth in Ukraine, forecasting an increase in nominal wages by 16% in 2019 and by 10% in 2020, respectively, or by 7% and 5% in real terms.
