Ukraine's National Bank buys almost US$3 bln in seven months

Chairman of the Council of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Bohdan Danylyshyn says the regulator bought US$2.91 billion on the interbank forex market from January 1 to August 2, 2019.

In particular, the central bank bought US$208 million in January, US$327 million in February, US$257 million in March, US$321.5 million in April, US$203.5 million in May, US$322 million in June, and US$1.271 billion in July and the first two working days of August, the official wrote on Facebook on August 8.

Danylyshyn recalled that the National Bank in July increased the international reserves by almost 6%, to US$21.8 billion.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's international reserves as of August 1 totaled US$21.84 billion, which was 5.8% up from July 1.
