Ukraine is not facing a shortage of diesel fuel in the face of reduced supplies from Russia.
Moreover, within 3-5 years, the domestic market can completely switch to other sources of supply, says the expert of the Razumkov Center, Maksym Beliavsky, according to Obozrevatel.
In particular, the expert says, the number of deliveries through sea terminals and the European Union member states will now increase.
Beliavsky also did not rule out that from September 1, or perhaps even earlier, diesel fuel supplies from Russia will be restored.
"But a very interesting situation has developed with the operation of oil refineries in the European Union. They fully satisfy the needs of their consumers and export oil products to Venezuela, where oil refineries suspended operations. This means that if a policy of negotiations between Ukraine and our European partners skillfully pursues, it is possible to reorient to Ukraine part of petroleum products that are now being sold overseas," said the expert.

Beliavsky also cited the second option – to negotiate with partners from the Baltic States and Belarus.
"But the increase in imports through Ukraine's sea terminals will require the Ministry of Infrastructure to prepare the Ukrzaliznytsia's rolling stock, look into the traffic load of the main flows, review the tariffing for rail transportation services, review the issue of transshipment and storage ..." he noted.
Ukraine will be able to gradually abandon diesel fuel purchases from Russia, the expert believes.
"In my opinion, it will be in the next 3 to 5 years. But we need systemic work. How can we replace diesel? Diesel is one of the cheapest motor fuels for our motorists. There is also propane-butane. And the rapidly growing direction of e-cars Therefore, I think that we need to move towards the use of environmental fuels," the expert said.
