The Association noted the importance of the agricultural sector for the country's economic development.
The European Business Association (EBA) says its business community is concerned that Ukraine's Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry may be liquidated by merging with other ministries or departments.

"The European Business Association's community is concerned about the possible liquidation of the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry and its merger with other ministries or departments (the idea of the merger is disseminated by the media)," the Association's press service said on August 8.
The EBA noted the importance of the agricultural sector for the economic development as the guarantor of the country's food security. Today Ukraine is included in the list of the world's major exporters of agricultural products.
"Analyzing international practices, it is worth noting that the European Union countries, the U.S., China, Canada and others have agrarian ministries. At the global level, the United Nations has a separate organization, the FAO [the Food and Agriculture Organization]. All these structures play an important role in shaping the countries' agricultural policies, stimulating their development and guaranteeing food security, as well as developing reasonable regulations, including those for the effective operation of businesses," the press service added.
According to EBA Executive Director Anna Derevyanko, the business community hopes that Ukraine's new political team will make a final decision after a thorough study of the global experience. She hopes that it will weigh the pros and cons, analyze whether the new idea will really be useful for the country, and assess the possible consequences for the sector.
As was reported, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said on TV on July 9 that the number of ministries should be reduced to 12 from today's 19 to optimize the work of the entire government.
