A plane of Russia's Globus Airlines en route from Italy's Bari to Moscow was allowed to cross the Ukrainian airspace amid a storm.

"On August 7, 2019, a pilot of a Russian Globus Airlines Boeing-738 REG-VQBMG plane, performing flight GLP636 from Bari (Italy) to Moscow (Russia), was given permission to enter Ukraine's airspace in the area of responsibility of the Lviv Regional Air Control Center to bypass an active thunderstorm," the press service of the Ukrainian Air Traffic Service (UkSATSE) said on Facebook on August 8.

The permission was issued by UkSATSE's Ukrainian Center for Planning of Airspace Use and Air Traffic Control of Ukraine (Ukraerocenter).

The Boeing-738 entered the Ukrainian airspace at 15:07 UTC through the LADOB navigation point on the FL370 level and left at 15:33 UTC through the AMIRI navigation point on the FL370 level.

In keeping with the regulations approved by Ukraine's State Aviation Administration, aircraft, including Russian ones, may be allowed to enter the airspace of Ukraine in cases when bypassing dangerous weather events without entering the Ukrainian airspace can lead to an emergency, UkSATSE said.

UkSATSE also shared a satellite image showing thunderstorm clouds over Ukraine, Poland and Belarus as of 17:45 UTC+2 08/07/2019. It was provided by the METEOSAT-11 satellite of the European Organization for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT).
