The state-owned operator of Ukraine's gas transmission system (GTS), Ukrtransgaz, says it has completed 65% of repairs to the GTS and its modernization as part of preparations for the forthcoming 2019-2020 heating season.

"Today, eight out of 13 sets of routine maintenance measures have been completed according to the schedule for 2019, which was previously agreed with [Russia's] Gazprom and neighboring countries' GTS operators. The implementation of set No. 6 was postponed to September-October," the company's press service said on August 8.
In general, repair and maintenance work has been carried out at 27 compressor stations providing gas transmission through the main trunk gas pipelines, including Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod, Progress, Soyuz and others.
"In May-July 2019, some 113.2 km of pipelines were examined, 8.3 km of gas pipelines and seven gas pumping units were overhauled, as well as 2,679 km of connecting links and 15 km of power lines at GTS facilities were repaired, in accordance with the schedules of production programs," the press service added.
UNIAN memo. Ukrtransgaz operates 12 underground gas storages (USFs) with a total storage capacity of about 31 bcm. The USFs are an integral part of Ukraine's gas supply system and gas transit through its territory. The company is also the operator of trunk gas pipelines carrying gas from Russia to the EU. Ukrtransgaz is wholly owned by NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine.
