Inflation in Ukraine accelerates to 9.1% in annual terms – July stats

Inflation in Ukraine in July 2019 amounted to 9.1% in annual terms, accelerating from 9% recorded a month earlier, the State Statistics Service reports.

At the same time, prices in Ukraine fell by 0.6% against June, after falling by 0.5% in June against May.

Since year-start, consumer prices have risen by 3% against Dec 2018.

According to the State Statistics Service, the largest price increase in July in annual terms was once again recorded for vegetables (30.7%), as well as for railway passenger transport (25.2%), sewage services (21%), bread (20.7%), and road passenger transport (20.4%).

Prices went down for eggs (29.2%), natural gas (1.3%), fuel and oils (0.4%), and shoes (0.2%).

The agency recalled that the data were given without taking into account the occupied Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as the occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

As UNIAN reported earlier, inflation in Ukraine in June 2019 in annual terms amounted to 9%, slowing down from 9.6% in annual terms a month earlier.
