Ukraine collects 16.6 bcm of gas in underground stocks

Natural gas reserves in Ukrainian underground storage facilities (USFs) since the end of the latest heating season (April 5, 2019) have increased by 89.7%, to 16.62 billion cubic meters, as reported by the state-owned operator of the gas transmission system of Ukraine, Ukrtransgaz.

As of August 10, gas reserves in the underground gas storage facilities are 23.8% higher than on the same date in 2018 (13.4 billion cubic meters).

Ukrainian USFs are now 53.6% full.

According to the operator, on August 10, some 77.48 million cubic meters of gas was pumped into storage.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on April 5, Ukraine began the season of collecting natural gas in USFs. By the beginning of the heating season of 2018-2019, Ukraine had accumulated 17.2 billion cubic meters of gas in its USFs, which was a record high for the past six years.

UNIAN memo. Ukrtransgaz operates 12 USFs with a total active capacity of about 31 billion cubic meters. USFs are an integral part of the gas supply and gas transit system of Ukraine. The company is also an operator of pipelines carrying natural gas in transit from the Russian Federation to the EU countries, and is also carrying imported gas from the EU countries to Ukraine.

100% of Ukrtransgaz shares are owned by Naftogaz of Ukraine.
