Transactions with electronic money in Ukraine in the first half of 2019 (H1) skyrocketed by 60% year-over-year (y-o-y), to UAH 4.9 billion (US$195.3 million).
The total amount of electronic money issued in H1 almost doubled y-o-y, to UAH 85.4 million ($3.4 million), while the number of "electronic wallets" grew by 20%, to 67.9 million, the regulator's press service said on August 12.
The maximum amount of e-money that can be stored on an unreplenishable electronic device, is UAH 4,000 ($159), the report said.

At the same time, up to UAH 14,000 ($557) can be stored on a replenishable device, with transactions not exceeding a total of UAH 62,000 ($2,471) per year.
UNIAN memo. Electronic money is a unit of value that is stored on an electronic device. E-money accepted as a means of payment and a monetary obligation of the issuer, performed in cash or non-cash.
According to the National Bank, 23 banks out of 76 financial institutions operating in the Ukrainian market have the right to issue e-money under the law.
