Russian gas transit through Ukraine reaches record high for year on April 7

Russian gas transit through Ukraine to the European Union and Moldova on April 7 reached a record high level since the beginning of this year of 194.3 million cubic meters, according to the latest data from Ukrainian state gas shipping company Ukrtransgaz.

The transit of gas to Moldova on April 7 totaled 9.46 million cubic meters, and to the EU countries – 184.84 million cubic meters.

On April 6, Russian gas transit through Ukraine amounted to 188.4 million cubic meters, with the average volume of gas transit during April 1-5 amounting to about 184 million cubic meters daily.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in early March 2015 Russia’s Gazprom suddenly increased gas transit order to the European Union to 174.3 million cubic meters of gas, an increase of 58% in just one day.

In 2014, the transit of Russian gas to European Union countries via the territory of Ukraine fell by 29.1% compared to 2013, to 59.4 billion cubic meters, reaching a minimum level in the history of gas transit from Russia through Ukraine.
