Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's envoy to the Cabinet of Ministers Andriy Gerus says the government has made another change to the resolution on public service obligations (PSOs) in the country's electricity market, which may reduce electricity prices for industrial consumers.

"We had a very constructive work with the energy minister and agreed on the main positions," Gerus said, following a government meeting on August 21, where the relevant decision was made.

According to the official, now the state-owned energy generating company Ukrhydroenergo has to increase the share in sales of its electricity under the PSOs from 20% to 35%.

As UNIAN reported earlier, a new electricity market was launched in Ukraine on July 1 under the Electricity Market Law, the draft of which was passed by the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, in April 2017. The law provides for the introduction of more competitive relations in the energy market and meets the requirements of the European Union's Third Energy Package.
